Singapore, 10 November 2015 – The slightly hazy conditions that affected Singapore last night gradually improved by early this morning. Thundery showers this afternoon brought a further improvement to the air quality which has been in the Moderate range throughout the day. For the rest of today, the current conditions are expected to persist. As at 4pm today, the 24-hr PSI was 74-85, in the Moderate range, and the 1-hr PM_2.5 was 12-38µg/m³.2     The total number of hotspots detected in Sumatra today was three. Showers have been affecting parts of Sumatra, including southern Sumatra. There is still moderate haze observed over some parts of southern Sumatra.

3     For tomorrow, the prevailing winds are forecast to be weak and variable in direction. Thundery showers are forecast in the late morning and early afternoon for Singapore, and visibility is expected to be in the normal range. The air quality for the next 24 hours is expected to be in the Moderate range.

4     The health impact of haze is dependent on one’s health status, the PSI level, and the length and intensity of outdoor activity. Reducing outdoor activities and physical exertion can help limit the ill effects from haze exposure. Given the air quality forecast for the next 24 hours, everyone can continue with normal activities. Persons who are not feeling well, especially the elderly and children, and those with chronic heart or lung conditions, should seek medical attention.
